 Non-Manga comics?, Anyone here actually read these types of books? |

'lo, all. I'm normally at the best Kinnikuman (and toy derivitives) forum, but Wimmo tempted me over here with his excellent subbing of Episode 1 of Kinnikuman Gen 1.
That said, I'm a casual comic fan. I'm not all about the manga (though I do enjoy the Ultimate Muscle issues Viz is putting out so far). If I read something and like it, I'll start buying it. I'm mostly into humorous comics, such as The Tick or Plastic Man, but I've started following the old Comic-Code era Punisher as well. I havn't read a truly terrible series from The Punisher except for the high-concept but terribly executed Purgatory miniseries (featuring a Zombie/Divinly Possessed Punisher, believe it or not). Anyone on here a fan of the more 'American' comics? |

welcome dude.
most of the members here are fans of everything awesome in general, so theres a lot of comic fans. I'm also a big punisher fan, though I stayed away from purgatory because of how bad it sounded. I also havn't read the one where he joins the mob either. --------------------  WHO DA MASTA? |

Unfortunately, my knowledge of Western comics is limited to the stuff that Linkara's reviewed, so I only know which comics are horrible. So my only advice is to avoid the Countdown series.

I have a TPB of the Purgatory series. Bought years ago just because I saw the skull (stupid kid)... Pure garbage.

From the looks of it that will definately be set in the Marvel Zombies universe.

I think it will be set on the main marvel universe [Earth-616] (...-> Secret Invasion -> Dark Reign ->...), but I am not too familiar with this universes things.

Bizarre stuff. I haven't been keeping up with any of the Punisher comics, but Frankencastle might be cool. I'd still prefer that Ennis returned to MAX, though...

The Marvel Edge series (the one where Frank takes over as head of a mob) is actually about as good as the first few War Zone storylines-- I'd recommend tracking the first issues down. There's actually well-thought out reasons behind his agreement. Also, you have to have read the War Zone issues for it to make complete sense, as antagonists return.
